This season has been hard on FC Barcelona, and while it is still not over, the gloom has already settled. Already knocked out of two great competitions, the Catalan giants are struggling domestically. However, Barcelona is not yet completely without hope as they look forward.

On the contrary, one major loss that Barcelona have not yet suffered is already written in the stars. Xavi Hernandez, the current head coach of the Catalan giants, is set to leave in the summer and he has already made this information public.

However, this does beg the question about what lies ahead for the Blaugrana commander. According to AS, the plan at the moment for Xavi remains to take a sabbatical year after his stint at Barcelona comes to an end in the summer.

This would mean taking a year off away from all kinds of managerial or directly functioning roles within the football world. However, as per the same report, there is one thing that could possibly take Xavi’s mind away from the sabbatical year and back into the folds of football management.

In case an irrefutable offer arrives, the coach could consider his options and possibly return to manage a team. At the moment, reports suggest that he has already been given options to potentially enter the coaching team for the Brazilian National team, or even perhaps unite with his former Barcelona teammates over in Inter Miami, including Lionel Messi.

For now, however, the 44-year-old manager’s goal remains Barcelona and helping them finish this season strong. Xavi’s reasons for departing are both institutional and personal, but they are unable to drag him away from his goal and love for now.

The pressure remains on both the coach and his Barcelona first team to deliver results. While La Liga seems difficult, it is still not over for the Catalan giants. However, the UEFA Champions League still remains as alive as ever, and everything is in Barça’s own hands.
