FC Barcelona is a club that continues to have high aspirations regardless of their struggling form. The Catalan giants possess a great squad that was recruited to ensure that the side enjoyed a strong season. However, luck and form have not been on the side of Xavi’s team.

La Blaugrana have been poor in their recent displays across different competitions. After their loss against Real Madrid at the Montjuic Stadium, Barcelona had two chances to redeem themselves against Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Against Sociedad, the Catalan giants managed to come away with a victory despite a very poor performance where they were clearly outplayed. Then again, they repeated a similarly poor performance against Shakhtar, but were not that fortunate this time around and ended up losing to the Ukrainian side.

However, hope never dies for Azulgranas until the coach and players give up. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, even last season saw Barcelona pick themselves up after a heavy defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

After falling to the Bavarians at Camp Nou with a scoreline of 3-0, Barça managed to string together quite the impressive streak afterwards. Many games went by after that match before Barcelona tasted defeat again.

First came the victories against Valencia, Viktoria Plzen, Almeria, and Osasuna. Then came their first draw of the run against Espanyol in the Catalan derby. Following that, two victories came against Atletico Madrid and CF Intercity in the Copa Del Ray.

Following that, Barcelona won two games in a row in the Spanish Super Cup. The second one was a victory over Real Madrid that gave Barcelona the title. Ceuta, Getafe, Sociedad, Girona, Real Betis, Sevilla, Villarreal, and Cadiz all suffered defeats at the hands of FC Barcelona.

Now in a similar predicament, Xavi will be hoping to recreate that invincible form from last season. Still just 4 points away from the top spot in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League group still in their hand, Barcelona just need to get back on the right track and this season could be much more promising than it may seem right now.
