FC Barcelona concluded their pre-season preparations once and for all with an exciting 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, resulting in the Catalans emerging as victors in the Joan Gamper Trophy courtesy of some late goals in the game.
The Catalans had many standout performers that would eventually become game-winners for Barcelona in the game against Spurs, with names such as Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres having stepped up to showcase some impressive performances.
Another name that had a significant impact on the outcome of the game was 20-year-old La Masia prodigy Ansu Fati, whose immaculate first touch and emphatic finish ensured the third goal for Barcelona that would put them in the driving seat in stoppage time.
However, despite his performance, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was unable to guarantee his stay at the club following the conclusion of the game as highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT.
Questioned regarding the possibility of Ansu Fati leaving or staying at Barcelona, Xavi was unable to provide a concrete answer and instead left the door for either possibility open by stating:
“…We’ll see, we depend a lot on Fair Play, he is training and playing very well, but there’s a transfer window until August 31st.”
This comes following a plethora of reports suggesting clubs from England and even Saudi Arabia would be very interested in taking the Spaniard away from Barcelona given that they believe the youngster still has the potential to mark an era in his own right.
On the contrary, the young Barcelona star remains adamant that his future is with the Catalan giants and he has no personal intention of leaving behind the club of his life as he looks to prove that he deserves to stay with La Blaugrana.
Over the course of the Barcelona pre-season, Fati has continued to impress and has scored some memorable goals including the one he just scored against Spurs in the last game and a brilliant goal against AC Milan as well during the United States tour.
