Xavi spoke about the importance of the win, the reason behind Frenkie de Jong’s substitution, the list of penalty takers, Ansu Fati asking for the penalty from Ferran, and Ronald Araujo being red-carded in his post-match press conference after the 1-0 win against Valencia.

Xavi on the win against Valencia:

“We suffered a lot. We created a lot of chances in the first half but we failed to take advantage of those chances. But this is an important victory for us. We had many chances to score a second goal, the penalty, Ansu’s chance. There are some details that we have to improve.”

Xavi on the importance of each win:

“All games are difficult and complicated. Even today’s game was also very complicated and difficult, and whoever doesn’t play well can’t win, and every game for us is a final. We want to win all the games.”

Xavi on Ronald Araujo being red-carded:

“The red card of Ronald Araujo was obvious. He was the last player in the defensive line. For me, it’s a shame that we couldn’t clear the ball.”

Xavi on giving the credit to players for the win:

“We always talk about Xavi’s Barcelona, but the credit should go to the players. We try to guide and develop them.”

Xavi on Ansu asking for the penalty:

“For penalties, there’s a list. Ferran was at the top of that list. However, I see it as positive that Ansu asked to take the penalty. It shows that he was eager to help the team.”

Xavi on Frenkie de Jong’s substitution:

“Frenkie had a hamstring problem. He was already very tired at the Bernabeu and we wanted to be careful. It was just a precautionary measure.”

That concluded Xavi’s post-match press conference.
