Xavi talks Red card, being League Leaders after the 2-1 win against Osasuna

Xavi spoke about the win against Osasuna, Lewandowski’s sending-off, Ferran’s performance, Christensen’s situation, and the courage shown by his team in his post-match press conference.

Xavi on Barca’s win against Osasuna:

“The team showed a lot of personality and faith today. This is a very important win thanks to the faith and courage of this team. It was so complicated, but today I’m very proud of the team.”

“A great win. We told the players to have faith. We controlled the match well, defended well, hardly conceded any clear chances until the end, and knew how to take advantage of our chances. I think that the team is growing, the dressing room is in an amazing place and we are like a family.”

Xavi on being the League Leaders:

“Our fans really want us to win and we’re going into the World Cup break as La Liga Leaders, which was our goal.”

Xavi on Gil Manzano’s controversial refereeing:

“We have felt the injustice again. My opinion doesn’t count. The red card seems rigorous, but it doesn’t matter what I say. It’s another day that the referee leaves without speaking. They should give explanations about their decisions.”

Xavi on Ferran Torres’s performance:

“He is important and I trust him, today he was a winger and then turned into a striker, he moves well in spaces, he’s hardworking, he’s humble, and has a lot of confidence in himself. I believe in him.”

Xavi on Pique’s sending-off:

“Piqué would have played today, but he was sent off.”

Xavi on Eric and Christensen’s physical situation:

“Eric García did not feel well today. He has made an effort to be there, to get into the squad list. He warmed up today, but he was not ready. Christensen is fine, he had some discomfort today, that’s why he was subbed off.”

Xavi on Luis Enrique:

“Luis Enrique is a great coach, I love him, he’s doing a great job with the Spanish team. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish La Roja (Spanish NT) the best of luck for the World Cup.”

That concluded Xavi’s post-match press conference.
