Ahead of the upcoming season, FC Barcelona are first fixated on the current one. La Blaugrana hope to end this ongoing campaign on the highest possible note, and that should happen with Xavi at the helm. However, beyond this season, there are great uncertainties for Barcelona.

Xavi’s decision to leave in the summer remains constant, and it has not changed thus far. However, a positive shock for many will likely come in the form of the Barcelona coach admitting that even beyond this season, he is currently engaged to future happenings at the club.

As highlighted by SPORT, Xavi has already stated that his current tenure at Barcelona assesses the situations and continues with the future of the club in mind. The Catalan giants will not be left with a declining project, and instead will be left with one planned and tutored with care:

“Yes, of course, I participate in the planning. I try to help in every way I can because I have been a club man since I arrived here. Deco and the president know this, they have me for whatever they need, and if I can help them, I will do it.”

However, while this news may be positive to an extent, it is no long-term promise. Beyond this season, there will be no Xavi at the helm of the squad management. Instead, a new coach will likely have to take over at Barcelona, a challenge that the club will have to face on their own.

For now, Barcelona remain quiet on the topic themselves. While they have addressed this through several important figures, but there is no telling what the future of the Barcelona job is like.

No one knows for sure whether Xavi leaves or stays, apart from apparently the coach himself, and that is exactly how Barcelona wants to keep it.

At least in terms of helping the club pave its way to the future, Xavi remains there for now. However, he has sporting issues of immediate priority that also need to be addressed. The biggest of them, undoubtedly, will be to look ahead to the tie against PSG in the Champions League.
