It has only been a day since the 2023-24 season ended, and FC Barcelona have seemingly already started working for the upcoming season at full speed.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Hansi Flick, who is expected to be the new head coach of the team, was in the Catalan club’s offices, finalizing his appointment as Xavi’s successor.

But this was not the only important meeting that took place at the Barcelona offices today. The agents of Xavi Hernandez were also at the club this morning, as they looked to negotiate with the club a definitive settlement of their client’s contract, after him being dismissed by the club.

In this regard, there is some good news for the Blaugranes as Mundo Deportivo reports that Xavi has foregone a significant amount of money, up €11-12 million, that he would have been legally in his right to demand from the club.

However, the members of his staff, who are not all as fortunate as the former Barcelona superstar, will still get their severance packages, which will be close to what was agreed between the two parties at the time of Xavi’s renewal.

Still, Xavi’s decision to forego his part of the severance package will be a significant help for Barcelona, especially at a time when the club has been facing a lot of economic problems.

This once again goes to show the regard and love that Xavi has for the Catalan club, in spite of the treatment that has been meted out to him in the last few weeks as he was dismissed after Laporta convinced him to stay for the next season only about a month ago.

Xavi’s agents, headed by Fernando Solanos, and Barcelona have almost agreed on the terms of their final separation, and the Catalan club is expected to make an announcement in this regard shortly.
