Xavi uncovers new 18-year-old gem in latest Barcelona training – report

FC Barcelona have just recently emerged victorious against Villarreal in a thrilling encounter that ended 4-3 in Barca’s favor at the Estadio De La Ceramica, giving the Catalan giants all three points as they made their journey back to Barcelona after the game.

In the morning following the game, the Catalan giants conducted a recovery training session for their players and Xavi Hernandez called upon several youngsters from the subsidiary to take part in the first-team training with their seniors at Barcelona.

Among those, as highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, the first team trained with the regulars from the subsidiary such as 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal, Ander Astralaga, Marc Casado, Fermin Lopez, and Alvaro Cortes.

However, two rather irregular entrants in particular caught the eye. First was 16-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi, who has also recently been registered by Blaugranes in the records of La Liga. The other was Cristo Muñoz, who is an 18-year-old offensive midfielder currently associated with Barca’s Juvenile side.

This training was the 18-year-old’s first proper training encounter with the Barcelona first team, and it appears Xavi has already managed a likening towards the youngster who shows good qualities.

He initially arrived at FC Barcelona when he was aged just 12 in 2017, but has since managed to progress gradually through the ranks of the La Masia academy and ended up as a product seen by many to have a great future lying ahead of him.

Next up for the first team of FC Barcelona themselves is a challenge that awaits in Pamplona by the name of CA Osasuna. A well-drilled team who recently came away with a 2-1 victory over Valencia, Barcelona will need to be at their best to beat Osasuna at the El Sadar stadium.

In the scenario that ‘Cristo’ manages to impress Xavi Hernandez just the right amount, he may just find himself traveling with the first team as other youngsters have managed to do so before him to represent the Barcelona first team.
