With only a few days left in the summer transfer window, there is significant transfer activity going on in the Catalan club. Barcelona higher-ups are looking to finalise the transfer of Joao Cancelo in these few days, and will also try to bring Joao Felix if the situation allows.
However, to make this latter signing, the Catalans will have to offload one of their current forwards. The attacking line is currently saturated at the club, and Barcelona also need to have more margin in their wage bill to register any new arrival, including Felix.
Barcelona not listening to offers for Abde
Ansu Fati is the main candidate of the club for a sale to meet these aims. However, as the Spaniard is reluctant to leave the Catalan club, it was previously reported that Abde is another option that Barcelona can sell in the coming days.
However, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Xavi wants him to be in the Barcelona squad for the next season. Still, the club has also priced him at €30 million, and he will be sold if an offer around this figure arrives.
Abde’s agent, Javier Garrido, visited the FC Barcelona offices recently to hold a meeting with the club’s higher-ups. It was in this meeting that the new Sporting Director at Barcelona, Deco, communicated to the agent that Abde is a part of Xavi’s plans for this season.
Barcelona will part with Abde only if an irresistible offer arrives for him, which has not been the case yet. The player has been linked with different clubs this summer, including Bayer Leverkusen, who were reported to be willing to offer around €15 million for him. Real Betis and Osasuna are also open to getting the winger on loan.
Abde also wants to stay at Barcelona
Abde also wants to remain at Barcelona for this season, but only as long as he has a clear role in Xavi’s plans. The Moroccan wants to continue with his growth and development, especially after a year at Osasuna where he was really impressive.
In the two La Liga games that Barcelona have played up to now, Abde has only come up in the second half, but it remains to be seen how Xavi will use him throughout the season as he is the only one with his style of play in the squad.
