The FC Barcelona squad is currently on its pre-season tour of the USA, and the future of several players with the club will be determined by their performances during this tour.
While some players like Dest will be trying to reverse their fortunes as they come into the pre-season tour with poor form, one of the players that will be looking to continue his good form in this tour is the winger Ez Abde.
The Moroccan had an excellent season on loan at Osasuna last term, in which he helped his club reach the finals of the Copa del Rey. He was a regular starter in Osasuna, as he made 20 league appearances, in which he scored four goals, while making another six appearances in the cup, and scoring two goals there.
He continued his good form even after the end of the club season, as he won the African U-23 Cup with Morocco, and was named as the MVP of the tournament.
These good performances have catapulted Abde into the spotlight in European football, and his value has skyrocketed in the last year. Thus, he can be one of the players that Barcelona can sell to make cash in the summer, which they urgently need to further strengthen their squad and meet their FFP obligations.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi clearly wants Abde in his squad for the next season, and has already communicated this desire to the club’s higher-ups. He believes that Abde can be a very disruptive player, and can turn the tide of a match by himself when he gets into a good stride.
Still, the future of the player at Barcelona is not entirely a certainty and would depend on other business that the club undertakes. More precisely, he will remain in Barcelona only if one of Raphinha, Ansu Fati, or Ferran Torres can be sold.
Meanwhile, the Moroccan has already received interest from sides across Europe. Juventus was the latest team to show an interest in him, but they have not made any moves for him recently, and Xavi would also be hoping the player can stay with Barcelona at least for the year to come.
