2023 is coming to an end in three days, and in hindsight, this was an important year for FC Barcelona. The Catalans were able to become the Spanish champions once again after their last league triumph in 2019.
SPORT has compiled the numbers for Barcelona for the calendar year 2023, which provide some interesting insights into how the team performed throughout the year.
For Catalans, the year started with a Copa del Rey tie against Intercity, which they were able to win only in extra time with a 4-3 scoreline. Their last match of the year came at the Montjuic against Almeria, which Barcelona won 3-2.

The Catalans started the year in a spectacular fashion, as after the victory against Intercity, they went on to win against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano. This was followed by the triumph in Spanish Super Cup, and the team getting on its best winning streak for the year, which lasted for 8 matches.
The two most memorable dates for the Blaugranes this year were January 15, when they won the Spanish Super Cup, and May 14, when they mathematically won the league after a 2-4 victory over Espanyol.
Robert Lewandowski was the most decisive player for Xavi, as he scored 24 goals, and was followed by Raphinha with his 11 strikes, and Ferran Torres with his 8 goals.
In the second part of the year, Barcelona has played only in La Liga and Champions League. The team has met its objective of getting into the knock-out rounds for the Champions League but has been lackluster domestically as it lags the leaders Real Madrid and Girona by seven points.
