Xavi’s full reaction after the 4-1 win again Real Sociedad

Xavi on the win against La Real:

“Tough match, it’s always hard to win in this stadium. The victory is fair, it has been shown that when we don’t have the ball we suffer but with the two pivots we have had dominance and in general, it is something to be happy about.”

“We’ve made offensive changes, we’ve taken risks and it’s worked out well for us. In the first half, we lacked calm and patience, we had to attack spaces more. In the second half we improved on this, we played well but sometimes we made it difficult for ourselves.”

Xavi on Frenkie’s performance:

“I have seen Frenkie very well, with the misfortune of giving away the goal.”

Xavi on Pedri:

“Pedri did very well in midfield and Gavi and Ferran played well between the lines. I’m happy for the victory.”

Xavi on the change in the system:

“They were playing with two pivots and we had one defender left. It was a risk. It was a system to have the ball and, when we understood it well, in the second half, we were very good.”

Xavi on Lewandowski:

“As everyone saw, he can make the difference, he is an example for the team, because of the sacrifices he made, he is a player for the present and the future.”

Xavi on Ansu Fati’s role:

“Ansu doesn’t start because it’s a mixture of precautions and merits of each other, Ferran has worked spectacularly this week.”

Xavi on Kounde’s situation:

“Mateu Alemany is doing an extraordinary job. He contracted Kounde in order to play and the most affected by his situation is Mateu himself.”
