Xavi’s reaction after Barca’s 1-0 win against Mallorca

Xavi on the narrow win against Mallorca:

“The victory is very important, in a difficult stadium and against a rival that competes very well. In games like this, if you don’t score the second goal, your task can get complicated. Our performance dropped off a bit and we didn’t have many chances in the second half.”

“It was hard for us to get the three points, in the second half we played the game that Mallorca wanted and we must not allow that. In those situations, we must go for the second goal.”

Xavi on his team’s performance:

“This is a very important win, especially after the international break. “We have several players who give us quality, all the players did a great job today. We also kept another clean sheet, that’s important.”

Xavi on his new record:

“I’m happy with the record, but I want to translate these records into titles at the end of the season.”

Xavi on the importance of La Pausa:

“We have been very patient and calm, it is always difficult to be patient when there is no space, you have to be perfect.”

Xavi on Lewandowski and Ter Stegen:

“It would be poor to explain everything with Ter Stegen and Lewandowski. There are more things, and although it’s clear that they’ve made the difference, Marc is in a spectacular moment. Lewandowski is a top player, a world-class goalscorer, maybe the best striker in the world.”

Xavi on using Balde as a Right-back:

“Balde has already played on the right, he was good in a very positional game.”

Xavi on Barca’s defensive display:

“The defensive line was at a great level, Jordi Alba and Piqué were very good, same for Christensen.”

Xavi on Ansu Fati:

“Ansu has been very good, I have seen him at 100%, these two weeks have done him very well, he has been extraordinary in training. Ansu Fati has proposed to be important. I’m convinced that he will be.”

That concluded Xavi’s press conference.
