As the current season approaches its end, FC Barcelona are planning for their squad for the upcoming year. The forward line is one that has been particularly identified as needing reinforcements, and one of the players the club is eyeing is Yannick Carrasco.
FC Barcelona are having a domestically successful season, as they only have to win one match to be declared the champions of La Liga. Furthermore, they have already won the Spanish Supercopa.
However, the leading part in winning both these trophies has been played by the club’s defense and midfield. The attack, while playing an essential part, has not been up to the standards required in a FC Barcelona team, and surely needs reinforcements for the next season.
Thus, Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco has been identified as one of the reinforcements for next season. News of a possible swap deal between the two clubs, with Ferran Torres going to Madrid and Carrasco coming to Barcelona, have been doing the rounds in media.
The latest update on this subject has been provided by Javi Miguel of Diario AS, who claims that the departing FC Barcelona Sporting Director, Mateu Alemany, has promised Xavi that he will try to sign Carrasco this summerv.
However, he reports that this would not be a swap deal as previously reported, but a straight transfer where FC Barcelona would pay €10 million to Atletico Madrid for Carrasco’s signature.
Mateu Alemany has been confirmed to be leaving the club at the end of the current season, as he has developed some differences with the other executives and board members at the club. He has been influential in getting a number of important players to the club in recent years, and the signing of Carrasco can well be Alemany’s last service to the club.
