Following the conclusion of a great clash between Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur for the Joan Gamper Trophy, the Catalans came out as 4-2 victors after a memorable victory at the opening match of the Olympic Lluis Company Stadium.

Several Barcelona players deserve credit for their influence in the game, particularly those that influenced the late goals giving Barcelona the victory over Spurs. Here is how the players fared in the game:

Player Ratings:

  • Marc Andre Ter Stegen: 7.0

The goalkeeper was immaculate in his distribution as well as pretty solid when it came to his shot stopping, unlucky to let in two goals to Spurs, however.

  • Alejandro Balde: 7.0

The young fullback continued to provide support both offensively and defensively whenever possible, but also struggled at times against a Spurs side that seemed well aware of his danger.

  • Jules Kounde: 7.5

The Frenchman was arguably the most solid player in the defensive zone for Barcelona and he made sure to always keep his opponents attentive to his position on the field.

  • Eric Garcia: 6.0

Prone to making errors and committing unnecessary fouls, the Spanish defender continues to struggle whenever he is given an opportunity to showcase his strengths.

  • Ronald Araujo: 6.0

A promising start for the Uruguayan defender was soon stained by an unfortunate injury early on in the first half after which he was replaced by Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto.

  • Oriol Romeu: 7.0

Seems to be growing more and more into his role at the Catalan club, the new midfield arrival looks set to become a key player at Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez this season.

  • Pedri: 8.0

At times seemed to be the only individual making a difference in terms of both efficient work rate as well as producing creative magic with the ball at his feet. Continues to be a great asset to Barcelona and Xavi.

  • Frenkie De Jong: 7.5

The Dutchman maintained control of the ball masterfully and was consistently present all across the field to help his team find a passing outlet at all times just around them.

  • Gavi: 7.0

First game after his return from injury and the young star was already showcasing his seemingly eternal amounts of work rate and consistent pressure on the opposition.

  • Robert Lewandowski: 7.5

Scored a brilliant opener for Barcelona but was unable to contribute much else, particularly in the first half.

  • Raphinha: 7.0

The Brazilian provided a great opening assist for Lewandowski’s goal and the first for Barcelona, but was unable to make a significant impact apart from that during his time on the field.

Substitutes:

  • Sergi Roberto: 6.5

Was decent in ensuring balance within the side but had his moments of vulnerability where he seemed completely outplayed by Spurs.

  • Inaki Pena: 6.0

Did not have much to face in comparison to the onslaught brought down on his German senior in the first half. Was quick on his feet and played a decent amount of time with a clean sheet to his own name.

  • Ez Abde: 7.5

Scored the final goal of the game and was a continuous hindrance for Spurs to deal with on whichever flank he was deployed at for Barcelona.

  • Ferran Torres: 8.0

Scored the equalizer for Barcelona and was also the one to set up Ansu Fati for his goal as well, the Spaniard was a great influence in the game and continues to showcase his worth to the team.

  • Marcos Alonso: 6.5

Solid in defense as well as progressing the ball on the flank. Continues to showcase merit to his stay at Barcelona and why Xavi Hernandez has faith in his abilities.

  • Ansu Fati: 7.5

Arrived late into the game but his initial impact remained more or less negligible on this clash against Spurs for Barcelona. However, late on in the game a moment of brilliance from the youngster saw an elite first touch followed by an emphatic finish to take Barcelona ahead of Spurs when the game was at 2-2.

  • Ilkay Gundogan: 6.5

Not too impactful but was a solid presence in midfield and even stringed together a couple of impressive passes.

  • Lamine Yamal: 8.5

Arguably the biggest influence on the match itself, the young 16-year-old provided a crucial assist and was instrumental in both the goals that followed as well, showcasing his extreme dribbling prowess and capable vision.

  • Fermin Lopez: 7.0

Was brought on late but provided the assist for Ez Abde’s goal of the game that would be the final goal for Barcelona in their 4-2 victory over Spurs.
