Certain stars that Barcelona continues to monitor are considered luxury targets. While some targets are considered as necessities to improve, others are seen as interesting profiles that Barcelona could look to incorporate if they have the opportunity.

Many of La Blaugrana’s recent such targets seem to hail from South America. More specifically, these players appear to all originate from Brazil. From targeting ‘Messinho’ to signing Vitor Roque, Barça seems quite invested in players from Brazil in recent times.

A potential reason for this could be Deco himself. The new Barcelona Sporting Director hails from the same region and reportedly has strong connections there. As such, it came as no surprise when Barcelona were reportedly interested in Girona wonderkid ‘Savinho’ as well.

Aged 19, Savio has been arguably one of the brightest young revelations in La Liga this season. With 4 goals and 4 assists in 13 league games, he has already adjusted to life in Spain it would seem.

However, SPORT reports that a potential signing with Barcelona is quite unlikely. The Brazilian forward remains contracted to French club Troyes, and is currently only on loan at Girona for this season.

Moreover, both clubs are under the ownership of the City Group. This particular group of clubs also just happens to include Manchester City under its umbrella. SPORT suggests that the Citizens have no interest in letting the developing Brazilian talent leave their grasp.

While earlier reports suggested he leans towards joining Barcelona in the future, the City Group for now insists on his continuation. Moreover, if he continues to explode at his current trajectory, it will not be long before Manchester City itself comes into the picture.

For now, the plan is to let him continue with Girona. Furthermore, his stay at the Catalan club could be extended by another year as well if the Spanish side manages to end with a European spot. As things stand, that possibility is very likely.
