It must be understood that FC Barcelona have started off this season in real promising fashion. Despite their various injury concerns, the Catalan giants continue to look like one of Europe’s most in-form teams. Much of the credit for that, however, must go to the new Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick.

Beyond just his contributions from a tactical standpoint, however, many players have also stepped up to the occasion. Throughout the various victories that the team has celebrated this season, a lot of them have come through brilliant displays from certain notable players.

Just like any other season, Barcelona also have players in this campaign who stand out more than others. While the entirety of the team must perform to elevate the club’s form and success, special praise must go to players who have stepped up in times of need and have consistently helped Flick’s team perform as well as it does.

Here are the five FC Barcelona players who have stood out the most this season in a top 5 ranking of sorts, and it will be based on an assessment that includes their consistency, overall contributions, and significance to the team:

Number 5: Pedri

For Pedri, the primary objective should be to complete this season with a minimal amount of injuries. If he manages to do that, his place as one of the world’s best midfielders will automatically be cemented as long as he continues to play the way that he has done so far.

Exceptional on the ball, he is a crucial part of Hansi Flick’s team and Barcelona are able to play the football that they do so efficiently mainly thanks to the youngster’s elite decision-making and technical qualities.

Number 4: Inigo Martinez

While many could still end up overlooking him, the reality is that Inigo Martinez has made Barcelona not miss Ronald Araujo or Andreas Christensen all that much.

Instead, the veteran Spaniard has become a regular starter for Hansi Flick’s team and both his individual quality and his chemistry with the current back-line has been essential in many of the victories that La Blaugrana have celebrated this season.

Number 3: Robert Lewandowski

One of the best strikers in Europe yet again, Robert Lewandowski has been reborn under Hansi Flick. His already impressive goal-tally is enough to highlight just how influential he has been for Barcelona this season. Given his current form, the Pole continues to aim for his second Pichichi title in Spain.

Number 2: Raphinha

In many ways, Raphinha is the primary leader of this team. Regardless of the fact that there are some players more experienced than him in the team, he remains the Barcelona captain for a reason and his performances have been there to back him up.

Number 1: Lamine Yamal

There was never any doubt that it would be Lamine Yamal at the top of this ranking. Despite just being 17 years old, the young Barcelona winger continues to lead this team not just through his numbers but also through his mere presence in the team.

Seen by many as the new face of Barcelona, the €150m La Masia prodigy is simply the best player in the team right now and has a good argument backing him up as one of the world’s very best players at the moment.
