Despite their recent victory over Napoli, it seems that FC Barcelona are still not completely satisfied. The Catalan giants have gradually developed their objectives for the season as they have moved along. Even now, Barcelona continue to update those objectives as they continue ticking them off.
At the beginning of the season, Xavi and Barcelona had hoped that qualifying from the group stage would be their primary objective. Given their struggles to do so in recent seasons, the initial objective felt justified. However, once Barça managed to overcome Porto and top their group, even other possibilities became probable.
Now, after their victory over their rivals from Naples, Barcelona once again dare to dream. The draw for the quarterfinals of the Champions League are yet to take place, but there is now great optimism within Barcelona. According to SPORT, moreover, this confidence beckons a certain belief.
Reportedly, Barcelona believe that all but one team in the Champions League is unbeatable for them. In terms of looking at strengths and weaknesses, the Catalan giants believe that almost every team has a weakness that can be exploited. Almost every team, bar Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Whether it be Bayern Munich or PSG, Barcelona have faith that they can potentially overcome their opponents. They consider these opponents to not be perfect teams, despite them still being quite strong. In one way or another, however, they all have less-than-ideal properties attached to them.
Manchester City, on the other hand, are a different kind of threat. The Citizens seem to be balanced in all aspects of the game, and they have the talents of a coach who knows Barcelona all too well. However, only they are seen as the ‘unattainable’ team for the Catalan giants.
For now, Barcelona consider themselves to still have a job to do. Overcoming Napoli is great, but as long as Barça are alive to fight another day in any given competition, Xavi’s side are not willing to give up. Knowing that the coach is leaving at the end of the season, the team would prefer to end the campaign on the highest note possible.
