FC Barcelona and PSG are reportedly setting up to compete for two star players either club believes could be pivotal to their respective future objectives according to a report from SPORT.

The first player in question is Manchester City starlet Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese orchestrator reportedly eyeing an exit from Manchester City and his likely and favored destination is rumored to be the Spanish La Liga.

A player that is quite fancied by Barcelona manager Xavi, his tutelage and success under former FC Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola could prove to be undeniable assets and virtues that make him an ideal candidate to be a Barcelona midfielder.

The operation finds itself to be problematic not on a sporting level, but rather on an economical level for the Catalans. The transfer would reportedly cost around €65 million and at the moment, that is a transfer fee that the Catalans do not find feasible at all for themselves.

This is an issue that PSG will most definitely not have to worry about courtesy of their well-documented and infamous surplus of available funds. However, for them, the issue lies in Bernardo Silva leaning towards joining the Blaugrana outfit over the Parisian side, despite Bernardo’s agent Jorge Mendes maintaining good relations with PSG director of football, Luis Campos.

The other case is that of Frenchman and current FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who sees his contract be left with only a year on it come the summer of 2023 and a release clause of €50 million that would arguably not be that big of an issue for PSG either should they come to the assessment of wanting to splash the cash on Dembele.

Barcelona themselves would be hesitant to let their star winger go and are reportedly working to add another extension to his contract and attempt to improve his current terms, albeit it remains a difficult task given their economic situation.

However, if the Catalans are unable to find any agreement with the Frenchman, PSG remain a solid alternative as a viable destination, especially since Kylian Mbappe himself reportedly likes the prospect of his fellow Frenchman joining the Parisian club as well as the potential departure of Neymar Jr. becoming a topic of hot discussion in recent days.
