It seems that Barcelona will be among the first to be caught up in a new wave of crossfires. La Blaugrana, despite not being directly linked to the Kylian Mbappe saga, could be one of its great victims. For Barcelona, that deal between the Frenchman and PSG breaking apart could be very bad news.
Beyond just the fact that Mbappe’s talents could be captured by Real Madrid for free, PSG will also want to make use of the salary space generated. With Barcelona possessing some of the most sought-after names in the European game, they become an easy target for PSG to single out for their stars.
In light of rumors linking Frenkie De Jong to a potential move away from Barça, PSG have now also entered that list according to SPORT. The Parisian club is quite enticed by the prospect of signing the Dutchman, who they believe is a star signing they need.
With Mbappe being quite likely to leave, PSG believe they need to recover that star power. Moreover, they want to provide Luis Enrique with the right tools to build a new project that he needs at PSG.
Speculated to be in the market for a new striker and midfielder, it seems that the demand for the latter has two specific players highlighted by PSG.
One happens to be Frenkie De Jong, whose contractual problems at Barcelona continue to make his future uncertain, and the other is Joshua Kimmich. Coincidentally, while De Jong remains a Barça player, Kimmich is a great target for the Catalan giants.
The German midfielder, currently contracted to Bayern Munich, is a player who is greatly admired by the Blaugrana club. While his transfer cost and the salary concerns of both him and De Jong are considered problematic for Barcelona, they are more or less insignificant for a state-owned side like PSG.
For now, the relationship between De Jong and Barcelona remains tense. After unsuccessful attempts to push him out, the Dutchman continues to harbor some negative feelings.
Moreover, PSG is there to offer him a superior offer that potentially meets all his financial demands and a sporting project that may entice him more than that of Barça’s.
