Barcelona closing in on a financial boost as AC Milan reach agreement with former defender

With their financial fair play and wage bill problems continuously haunting them, FC Barcelona are currently attentive to any source of funds that can provide them with some financial relief.

As already reported here, one of the major sources from which Barcelona are expecting to receive funds is the finalization of the sale of Barca Studios. The Catalans are in contact with two other parties as it looks increasingly likely that Libero is not going to pay the agreed-upon sum.

Fortunately, another source has opened up from which the Catalans can get some financial respite. Barcelona have a right to some share of the transfer fee on several of their former players, and three players are reportedly likely to change clubs in January, Jean Claire Todibo, Ez Abde, and Juan Miranda.

An update on the proposed move of Juan Miranda has now been provided by Mundo Deportivo, which refers to the Italian journalist Matteo Moretto and claims that the defender and AC Milan have already reached a personal agreement. However, AC Milan and Real Betis are yet to reach an agreement.

Thus, Miranda is getting closer to a January move, and only an agreement between the clubs now remains. His contract with Betis runs out in the summer of 2024, thus Real Betis are particularly willing to negotiate with Barcelona so they do not lose the defender for free.

How much of a transfer fee Milan pays for Miranda depends on how severely they feel the need for a low-cost replacement for Theo Hernandez.

Barcelona are keenly following this transfer, as they have a right to 40% of any transfer fee obtained for the player.

If the transfer goes for €3 million, Barcelona will get €1.2 million, but if Milan pays €2 million, the Catalans will only get €0.8 million. Still, getting this amount would be better than losing him for free in the summer.
