FC Barcelona are headed towards a future where they hope to count on talented youngsters. Taking a step back and reflecting on their mistakes in recent years has led La Blaugrana to put their faith back in their youngsters and upcoming stars.

The now-confirmed arrival of Brazilian gem Vitor Roque in January is just further evidence of this. However, with new incomings, there must simultaneously also be old outgoings. Several players within the team are considered to be at the risk of not continuing beyond this season possibly.

According to SPORT, however, one name that seems almost guaranteed in this case is Marcos Alonso. The veteran Spanish defender seems destined to leave in the summer of 2024, and that decision for now stands strong.

However, interest from Saudi Arabia has started to materialize as well. Interestingly, SPORT claims that those particular offers may be happy to take away the Spaniard in January itself. This would allow the player to leave midway through the season.

The player himself, moreover, is understood to be aware of his current situation. In the case of a potential offer, he realizes that Barcelona will not stand in his way if he wishes to depart sooner rather than later.

Having already played second fiddle to Alejandro Balde this season, Alonso’s chances of regaining prominence at left-back are starting to diminish even more. Joao Cancelo, on loan from Manchester City, is now another contender at left-back that Xavi Hernandez really likes as an option.

Until and unless Alonso begins to feature more actively, his departure in the summer seems likely. For now, however, the player does not think too much about leaving in January.

However, he does continue to have a good repute in England. As such, there will likely not be a shortage of options for him away from Barcelona.
