At FC Barcelona, almost everyone’s mind will currently be taken up with the key UEFA Champions League clash against Napoli in the second leg of the Round of 16, which is scheduled for tonight.

There is no doubt that this is a highly significant match for the Catalans, and advancing beyond the Round of 16 would be a considerable achievement for Xavi, keeping in view how the season has fared, and how he will be without some of his key players.

However, the Sporting Department of the club is also not ignorant of the team’s needs for the upcoming seasons and is already working with other clubs for both arrivals and departures.

In this regard, SPORT reports that one of the recent high-profile meetings that took place involved the Barcelona Sporting Director, Deco, and John Murtough, the Manchester United executive.

Several names owned by both clubs were discussed in this meeting. Although the spending power of both United and Barcelona is quite different right now, this difference does not rule out some possible business dealings between the two sides in the coming summer.

One of the players who is currently the most likely to be the subject of more future meetings between the two clubs is Mason Greenwood. The Englishman is currently playing on loan in Spain with Getafe and has been quite impressive during this stint, having scored six goals and provided five assists in 23 appearances with the Madrid club.

His current contract with Manchester United runs out in 2025, but the Red Devils might be looking to end their association with the player this summer so as not to lose him for free, as they also do not want him in their squad because of his tainted past.

However, nothing is conclusive for now, and this meeting might only be one of the several more to come between Barcelona officials and representatives of other clubs, and the frequency of such meetings is likely to increase as the summer window approaches nearer.
