The last night was a special one for the Spanish national team, which has four Barcelona players in its ranks, as it defeated Georgia to advance to the quarter-finals of the UEFA EURO 2024.
As has been the case for most part of this EURO campaign, Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams were the two forwards who led the Spanish national team’s attack, and both were once again at their best, as the former recorded an assist and the latter scored a goal in this Round of 16 game.
Naturally, the good performance of this Spanish duo led to widespread recognition of their talents, and they received praise from several quarters for their brilliance.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, one of the individuals to recognize their good match was the Barcelona player, Alejandro Balde, who shared a picture of the two wingers celebrating Nico’s goal during this match.
Alejandro Balde, who missed out on the UEFA EURO and most part of the last season because of a long-term injury, is a good friend of both of these players and as Nico Williams himself confessed in a recent interview, he was the person who introduced Yamal to Nico, which led to a close bond between the two wingers, the benefits of which Spain is enjoying right now.
While Balde was unable to join his friends in the EURO 2024, he can still play with both of them next season at his club as Nico has been closely linked with Barcelona for some time now. In fact, he has been reported to be the favorite candidate of the new Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, to reinforce the left wing.
Although there is a lot of uncertainty on this issue right now, Culers would be hoping to see them weave their magic with Barcelona in the same way that they are doing with the Spanish national team.
