Barcelona keeping close tabs on Villarreal duo

Among the many stars both within Spain and outside the country that continue to be linked with FC Barcelona, Villarreal duo Dani Parejo and Juan Foyth remain central to the Catalan’s major reports.

Both players are such that Xavi Hernandez himself admires, for obviously varying reasonings as per the reports from SPORT. The pair are central to Quique Setien’s Villarreal and the club’s consistency over recent times. The Argentine full-back, Juan Foyth, is a 25-year-old who has been linked constantly over the last 2 seasons to the Catalan outfit in their quest to find an heir to their then-vacant in terms of quality right-back slot.

Now, it remains a position where Jules Kounde plays his trade at FC Barcelona, however, the Frenchman is not at his best position while being deployed there as he is naturally a center-back.

Foyth remains a signing that is not classified as a “luxury signing” partly due to him being valued at a rather reasonable €20-3€0 million range, while simultaneously being a player worth the amount in terms of the quality that he possesses.

Highly regarded by Xavi Hernandez courtesy of the Argentine’s excellent defensive output coupled with his consistent offensive contributions, the player remains a great choice for FC Barcelona to bring in at right back to allow more competition as well as the quality of replacements in said position, not too dissimilar to what Xavi has at his left back slot in the shape of Jordi Alba and Alejandro Balde.

The other Villarreal starlet that Xavi and FC Barcelona have both considered bringing in is 33-year-old Spanish veteran Dani Parejo, a player who possesses exquisite reading of the game coupled with an immaculate sense of passing and coordination with those around him.

Bringing the Spaniard in during the summer is a questionable decision, however. Despite the undeniable quality of the player, he belongs to an age that would not provide a long-term solution to the imminent departure of Sergio Busquets, thus making it a decision that the Catalan giants may need to evaluate before consequently pursuing.

FC Barcelona next face Villarreal in their next La Liga Santander clash at the Estadio De La Ceramica, with both players in question expected to be amongst those that start against La Blaugrana in the latter’s current objective of securing the La Liga title.
