With it being some time since the summer transfer window closed, FC Barcelona are now working on the contract renewals of some of their important players. The Blaugranes have recently updated the contracts of important players like Marc Bernal and Marc Casado.

Another player with whom the Catalans are negotiating for a renewal is the midfielder, Fermin Lopez. The La Masia graduate had extended his contract to 2027 with Barcelona only last year after he impressed in the pre-season tour of the USA, and the Blaugranes did not want to take any risks with such a strategic player.

But with the growth he experienced last year, being not only an important player for Xavi, but also being a part of the Spanish team in the UEFA EURO 2024 and Paris Olympics, Barcelona believe the player’s value has changed, and they want to adapt his contract according to these new conditions.

In this regard, there is good news for the Cules as Mundo Deportivo reports that the two parties have almost arrived at an agreement for this renewal, and the time and economic parameters of this new contract have already been agreed upon. A few details are yet to be ironed out, after which the player will give his final nod. With this new contract, Fermin will remain at Barcelona till 2029.

Fermin Lopez made his debut with Barcelona under Xavi, but he still remains an important player in the eyes of the Catalan entity after the departure of the former coach. This holds true even though the midfielder has not been able to play a lot this season.

He returned to the team later than other players because he did not get a break throughout the summer with his participation both in UEFA EURO 2024 and the Paris Olympics.

Then, after making a few substitute appearances, he got injured in the September international break, and then again while training at Barcelona. Up to now, he has only played 57 minutes in total, but this renewal will eliminate any doubts about his importance in this Barcelona team.
