Despite what the uninformed may assume, FC Barcelona remains one of the world’s most lucrative clubs. Beyond just their immense revenue-making capabilities, they house some of the game’s most valuable players. Some of the Barcelona stars have been making their names for quite some time, but newer ones have now emerged as well.

The explosion of players, both this season and the last, has ushered in a new Blaugrana generation. More excitingly, this new batch of young blood possesses some remarkable talent within it. One of those names is Lamine Yamal, and most of the footballing world is already after him.

This is now beyond mere speculation as well, given that it has been confirmed by arguably the most reliable source to confirm this. As highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed what many have been speculating.

In his latest exclusive interview, Joan Laporta confirms that a €200 million offer has been rejected for Lamine Yamal, who just so happens to be Barça’s grandest graduate in recent years:

“We got offers for players like Lamine Yamal, for €200 million, and we said no. This is because we trust this boy, in his sporting projection, and we do not have the need for the money. On the contrary, we are in a process of economic recovery, and are already seeing the end of the tunnel.”

Recent reports had speculated that an offer of exactly the same value had reached Barcelona from Paris. They reported that Ligue 1 juggernauts Paris Saint-Germain were incredibly keen on the young Barcelona prodigy, and were willing to break the €200 million mark for him.

Ultimately, Barcelona have rejected that amount it seems, one that was coincidentally quite close to the amount PSG took away Neymar Jr for quite some years ago. It seems that La Blaugrana are not willing to take the same path again, and instead wish to continue building a project with Yamal leading it.

Be it Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, or even Mikayil Faye, these new Barcelona youngsters seem to be mature well beyond their years. As they continue to gallop while others walk, Barcelona continue to build a project for the future. While the short-term success may be hindered for a while, the near future looks quite promising.
