It is no secret that Barcelona would ideally like to have their injured stars all available again. The Catalan giants have already struggled this season with their extensive list of sidelined players. However, it is unfortunately not just something Barcelona can turn off or on as they wish.
On the other hand, Barcelona can still work towards changing certain things in order to better prevent injuries. While stars like Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Marcos Alonso and Gavi have undergone surgeries and are out for a longer time, there are other players that Barça can help out in the short-term.
Pedri, for instance, is arguably their primary concern when it comes to injury prevention. Having become a victim of recurring muscular problems, Barcelona hope to help him regain his best physical levels and avoid any unwanted injuries in the future.
The player, as per Mundo Deportivo, aims to be back in time for the Spanish Super Cup. To do so, both him and FC Barcelona are now working closely to help him overcome his injury problems. Several measures have been taken to make this a reality.
One of the primary measures is the introduction of Pilates for the 21-year-old. Recommended by former Barcelona captain and legend, Carles Puyol, Pedri has been told that it will help him improve his elasticity.
Moreover, the player is now possibly going to make use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in a hyperbaric chamber as well. This will help his lungs collect more oxygen, and thus get more oxygen to his tissues and help them heal better.
Moreover, even dietary changes have been made for the player to improve his health and development. One change has been the removal of gluten from his diet. This is something that Dani Carvajal tried with Real Madrid as well previously.
Barcelona have also arranged for an external physiotherapist as well. Named Raul Martinez, he has formerly worked with the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol and even David Villa. Barça are also looking to change the type and quality of the supplements being taken by the player as per his prescriptions.
The goal, at the end of the day, remains to help Pedri get back to his best. He remains one of the world’s most elite midfielders, but injuries continue to hold him back. At the moment, reports suggest that he will travel to Saudi Arabia, but his involvement is not guaranteed. Barcelona will not want to risk anything, but Pedri’s return could change a lot for the Catalans.
