FC Barcelona defender and veteran Jordi Alba remains one amongst the many who believe the return of Lionel Messi would be welcome news. The Spaniard recently had an interview with The Athletic where he was asked a plethora of various questions, among which the topic of Lionel Messi was also brought up.

When asked regarding where he stands on the reported interest of the club in bringing back Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, the veteran defender had nothing but a personal liking for the possibility. The player went on to state:

“I do not know what will happen. It would be good for us, but it’s difficult.”

The player remained realistic about the prospect of the Argentine returning, however, as the ongoing economic issues and financial fair play restrictions remain a daunting hurdle for the club. However, it remains an unquestionable fact that not only would Messi be a boost for Jordi Alba on a personal level, but even on a sporting level.

The duo with their varying combined plays were a deadly threat to play for any team to face against. Both of them at FC Barcelona have together won 1 Champions League, 5 La Liga titles, 3 Spanish Supercups, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup among many other accolades.

With both the Spaniard and the Argentine now reaching the respective twilights of their careers, one last dance seems like the golden way to go out. It remains to be seen how Joan Laporta and his team now deal with the economic hurdles of this operation, but should they manage to overcome it, the return of Barcelona’s greatest ever would inevitably spark a new flame in Catalonia.
