There is a fine line between great players and stars who are considered critical at FC Barcelona. While players of good quality may end up making their way to the Catalan club, it is only the very best who end up remaining. However, for Barcelona in particular, choosing the right players to bet on is vital.

Some names like those of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi are considered essential to the club’s future. Other names such as those of perhaps Ilkay Gundogan or Marc-Andre Ter Stegen guarantee quality, experience, and a few more years at the top level. Then come names that give Barcelona the best of both worlds.

One such name is that of 21-year-old Spanish prodigy Pedri. Knowing his importance to the team, it seems that Barcelona have already advanced to prolong his stay at the club. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have already conveyed their intentions to the player’s agent about renewing his contract.

At the moment, Pedri’s current deal runs until 2026, after which it expires. Even though there are almost two years left to that point coming along, it seems that Barcelona are willing to take no chances. With the permission of both the player and his agent, La Blaugrana wish to extend his stay at the club well beyond 2026.

Aged only 21 right now, he would be close to 23 years of age in 2026. That just goes to show that the young superstar and Golden Boy winner has many more years of mesmeric football to give to Catalonia and to Barcelona. Moreover, there is complete unity within the club about his continuity and just how big of an asset he is.

Considered a generational talent, they believe that very few players can do what he does as good as he does it. Even as he fights through various injury problems, Barcelona maintain their faith in him. Now, as he gradually nears his return after the incident in San Mames, both Pedri and Barcelona hope to leave his injury woes behind.
