As the club was unable to return to the 1-1 rule for not meeting the standards set by La Liga, FC Barcelona are once again going to face problems retaining all their current players while remaining within their FFP constraints.

But this problem is going to get further troublesome as the Catalans also have up to eight players currently playing away from the club on a loan, and who are, theoretically at least, going to return to Barcelona this summer, and whose wages will also have to be paid by the Blaugranes.

As SPORT has noted, Ansu Fati, Sergino Dest, Eric Garcia, Clement Lenglet, Chadi Riad, Alex Valle, Julian Araujo, and Pablo Torre all have to return to Barcelona this summer. However, some of these players have succeeded in becoming highly important players for their clubs, and thus the Catalans might have some ease in finding suitors for them.

Players like Eric Garcia, Alex Valle, Pablo Torre, Sergino Dest, and Julian Araujo have all played more than 20 games for their sides this season, and thus their clubs might want to keep them beyond their current loan terms.

Furthermore, Alex Valle and Julian Araujo are two players who have significant chances of becoming a part of the Barcelona first-team squad for the next season, especially if Marcos Alonso leaves, which will leave the Catalans somewhat short on the flanks.

Other than these two players, the rest are likely to return to Barcelona only for a temporary period. This is especially the case for the likes of Clement Lenglet, whom the club has been trying to offload for several seasons now, and whose improved fortunes at Aston Villa provide the Catalans with hopes of finding a suitor this summer.

Similarly, PSV Eindhoven and Real Betis also have options to permanently purchase Sergino Dest and Chadi Riad this summer, and the performances of these two players are likely to pull these clubs into exercising these options.
