As the current season is approaching its latter stages, FC Barcelona have already started to plan for the next season. One of the main tasks for the Catalans in the upcoming summer will be to get a replacement for Xavi Hernandez.

However, in addition to a new manager, the Blaugranes will also have to strengthen their team in some key areas for the next season, and one of the positions that Barcelona are prioritizing to improve is that of the midfield pivot.

One of the main targets that the Catalans have for this position is the Everton midfielder, Amadou Onana. Barcelona like the player a lot because of his physicality, which will provide a different profile to what the Catalans have already in their midfield.

But as SPORT has reported, it would be almost impossible for Barcelona to get the midfielder, mainly because of his price. The report claims that Deco is willing to pay as much as €45 million for him, but Everton will not allow him to leave for anything less than €60 million.

The Premier League side is open to selling the midfielder in the coming summer, mainly because they have to sell some players to meet their financial fair play requirements.

But they still will not sell the 22-year-old midfielder for less than €60 million, which is a sum that Barcelona cannot afford at the moment, and will have to sell some players to reach.

Barcelona’s position is further weakened by the fact that there are several other clubs also interested in his signing. For instance, Manchester United are also interested in the midfielder and can afford to pay the sum demanded by Everton.

On the other hand, as Onana’s signing becomes difficult for Barcelona, the 24-year-old Feyenoord midfielder Matts Wieffer has emerged as one of the options for FC Barcelona to get a reliable midfield pivot in the last few days.
