Although they are currently two very important players for Xavi at FC Barcelona, the futures of Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo have been subject to a lot of speculation in the last few weeks.

While the departure of either of these players would not even be contemplated in normal times, the financial problems faced by the club can force Barcelona to accept a good offer for one of these players.

However, as SPORT has reported, the Barcelona Sporting Director reassured the fans and the media that both of these players are important and will continue at the Catalan club:

“What will happen with Araujo and De Jong? Nothing will happen. They have contracts, and we want to keep the best players. And they are the best. They are players of the present and the future.”

“They are players who have earned the right to be at Barça and who have earned the respect of the fans and the club. We want to continue counting on them.”

Although Deco’s comments earlier this month about a change of philosophy needed at the club, this time he ensured that Barcelona’s core style will not be compromised:

“The Barça DNA has always been about having players of the highest level. The style has always been sought to be maintained. It’s something that is not up for discussion. Barça reinvents itself, seeks solutions, and ultimately continues to try to play beautiful and attractive football.”

After a rather slow season, Lewandowski has been able to turn around his form and score some important goals in the last few matches for Barcelona. Deco was full of praise for the Pole for his professionalism:

“He’s an example for the young players. There are few players as professional as him. He’s been the best in the world and has scored many goals.”

Deco’s comments are important, as they would help make the situation of Araujo and De Jong somewhat more certain for the moment. However, these players will remain subject to speculation till the end of the summer window, unless they sign a renewal with Barcelona in this time.
