Much of the excitement left within Barcelona this season could boil over in their upcoming clash. While certain titles may have been lost, and La Liga may seem more difficult than ever, one contest still remains alive. The UEFA Champions League, in all its glory, continues to give Barcelona life.
However, the Catalan giants do not exactly have the easiest of opponents to overcome. After thrashing Napoli in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Barcelona now face a massive contest in the quarterfinals against French side Paris Saint-Germain.
Already struggling with injuries, Barcelona have some great dilemmas ahead of the clash. However, unfortunately for PSG and rather fortunately for Barcelona, it seems that the Catalans are not the only ones who will have injury problems to cope with in the upcoming clash.
As highlighted by SPORT, PSG have just lost one of their most dangerous frontmen during the international break. 21-year-old French winger Bradley Barcola recently suffered an injury to his thigh in an appearance for the Under-23 French National team.
While playing against Ivory Coast, he was subbed off near the 26th minute. He was seen holding the back of his left thigh as he seems to have pulled or damaged one of his muscles. The exact duration of his recovery is not yet known, but his loss could be a blow to the Parisians if he misses the first leg against Barcelona.
It is true that Barcola is no Kylian Mbappe, and the other Frenchman remains by far the most dangerous weapon that PSG possess, but the 21-year-old himself is no slouch. His ability to damage defenders in isolated contests and make dangerous runs are both strong weapons for Luis Enrique.
FC Barcelona need all the help they can get for now, both from themselves and external factors as well. Barcola has 33 appearances all across this season, and a total of 9 goal contributions. Three of those have been direct goals, while the rest of the six are assists.
Moreover, he is valued at €40 million, which may not be the most expensive valuation at PSG, but still goes to show his talents as a player and the threat he poses to Barcelona.
