FC Barcelona are still looking to benefit from deals they made in the past. The Catalan club knows that every new introduction of revenue can be important for them, regardless of how significant it is in value. That is why now is a better time than any other for Barcelona to hope to benefit from their old contracts.

This includes players who may no longer be representatives for FC Barcelona but their contracts include a sell-on clause that is still applicable. Fortunately for Barça, there are a handful of players who have such clauses included in their current contracts.

One such name that must not be forgotten is that of 22-year-old Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli. Currently a player for La Liga side Real Betis, the player joined Betis permanently last summer in exchange for both a monetary fee as well as the inclusion of a sell-on clause through means of percentage rights.

Betis acquired 50% of the rights to the player by paying up to €7.5 million. However, this also now means that if the player were to be transferred, half of the acquired transfer fee would go directly to FC Barcelona. As a result of this, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are keeping very close tabs on the player.

In recent weeks, there is reason to believe that interest from Saudi Arabia may be increasing for the player’s services. Ramon Planes, the man who was responsible for bringing Abde to Barcelona in the first place back in 2021, but then also brought him over to Real Betis in 2023.

Now the sports director of Al-Ittihad over in Saudi Arabia, it would hardly be surprising to see him bring the player over once again as he continues to see something special in the Moroccan winger.

Only time will tell if a move ends up materializing, but in case it does, Barcelona could benefit heavily as Real Betis will do whatever it takes to increase the amount they receive from Abde’s sale. They would not like to share half of what they earn if it does not even get them back the initial €7.5 million that they ended up investing.
