Beyond just being a hallmark of footballing excellence, FC Barcelona is more than a club. The Catalan club represents a part of Spain that resonates and identifies itself as a rich part of the entity’s history. Beyond just that, the legends and tales of Barcelona are vast and diverse, just like the nature of the club.

Thus, it becomes important for the players and leaders to understand and resonate with the club’s values. Unwilling to accept the modernity of football that forces teams to be pushed towards being owned by rich individuals and organizations to remain competitive, Barcelona continues to be among the special clubs still owned by their fans.

Even then, FC Barcelona is just so much more. That is why the appointment of any new coach at Barça begins with the question of just how well they understand the club itself. Thus, perhaps in an attempt to better prepare himself or just to understand the club better, SPORT states that Hansi Flick is on a mission to learn more about Barcelona.

To do this, he first followed Manchester City’s game against Copenhagen in Denmark, and then traveled to Manchester itself. There, he met up with former Barcelona icon and legendary coach, Pep Guardiola, and his long-term assistant, Domenec Torrent.

He discussed various sporting experiences with them, and chatted about different topics. However, one of the constants that remained was the topic and realization of Barcelona.

Flick knows that he remains one of the priority targets to replace Xavi Hernandez, but he possibly wishes to understand Barcelona better first.

While almost none can claim to not know the aspirations of Barcelona as a football club, few outsiders truly understand the concept of it as an institution.

Flick, being a potential new recruit for them, wants to at least understand the various aspects and peculiarities of the club first. Come the summer, he may just have to put the information he’s collecting to good use.
