The current sporting and economic conditions at FC Barcelona make it clear that several players will have to leave the club at the end of this season.

A number of players have been linked with a move away from the club, and the Catalans have already received offers for three of their players. But one of the players who is most likely to depart the club this summer is the defender, Marcos Alonso.

The Spaniard’s contract with Barcelona ends this summer, and he also has not played any significant part for the team this season. He has accumulated only 300 minutes in seven appearances this season and is also currently out due to a back issue.

While he may have to leave Barcelona, as the Catalans might not offer him a new contract, his time in Spain might not be ending this year.

This is the case because, as SPORT has reported, Atletico Madrid are keeping the defender on their list as a possible candidate to reinforce their defense, which is going to be somewhat weakened this summer.

Two important defenders for Diego Simeone, Axel Vitsel and Mario Hermoso, are ending their contracts at Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, and Alonso is being considered by Atletico to fill in the gap left by them. Thus, Alonso can be reunited with his former Chelsea teammate, Cesar Azpilicueta.

Meanwhile, Barcelona will not be looking to spend a lot to get their replacement for the departing Spaniard, mainly because of their already strained finances, while they also have to reinforce their team.

Thus, Alex Valle, who is currently on loan at Levante, will be highly valued by the club as a replacement for Alonso, as he would not only not require any transfer fee, but will also have wages significantly lower than what Barcelona had to pay for Alonso.
