The FC Barcelona youth continue to amaze the club with their special and unique progressions. The Blaugranes are renowned for having one of the world’s best youth development programs, and their products are living up to it.
Even recently, new faces from the academy and subsidiary continue to help Barcelona in times of need. However, there are those special few who possess the ability to amaze even the hardened veterans.
Players like these come by every once in a while, and they possess qualities that few their age can dream of. One such name is undoubtedly that of Oscar Gistau.
As highlighted by SPORT, this 15-year-old striker is a cut above his peers. Born in 2008, the team that directly corresponds to his age would be Cadet A or B. However, due to his vastly superior ability as a footballer, he has already made the jump to the Juvenil levels.
With Marc Guiu spending a lot more time with the first team, spaces in Juvenil A have opened up. Thus far this season, Gustau has managed to play 218 minutes across six matches for Oscar Lopez’s team. Within those few minutes, he has already scored three goals. This has led to an incredible average of a goal every 72 minutes for him.
Over in Juvenil B, coached by Pol Planas, he has played 801 minutes across 13 league appearances. He has scored five goals across that duration of opportunities. This gives him an average of a goal every 160 minutes.
While this is still impressive for the 15-year-old, it pales in comparison to his Juvenil A average, which is interesting given that the level of competition is even higher there. He has also made three appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season.
His goals from last season also reached a jaw-dropping figure. Scoring 21 goals, his average was rather surprising given that he started on 22 occasions and was a substitute on 7 others. However, the most inspiring attribute of the youngster remains his ability to adapt.
Irrespective of whether he plays for Juvenil A or B, even though they follow different tactics and patterns of play, he continues to perform. Whether it be Oscar Lopez or Pol Planas coaching him, he manages to impress any coach mentoring him. Labeled as an ‘Old-fashioned 9’ by SPORT, he certainly lives up to the hype.
His potential is referred to as having no ‘ceiling’ or being limitless even. Barcelona are convinced that he can reach great heights, and the Catalan giants are more than excited to see exactly how his talents can help La Blaugrana in the present and in the future.
