Vitor Roque is looking to be the only addition that FC Barcelona will make to their squad in the coming winter transfer window. The Brazilian striker’s arrival at Barcelona will significantly reduce the burden on Robert Lewandowski, who is currently the player with the highest goal-scoring duties at the club.
Vitor Roque will come to Barcelona in top form, which has been on display in Brazil ever since the player made his professional debut two years ago.
The high quality which the player has shown in Brazil is clearly observable from the comparison that SPORT has made of Roque with two Real Madrid stars, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.
At this point in time, Roque has 96 games to his name in club football, in which he has scored 34 goals and given 12 assists.
He made his debut with Cruzeiro, where he went on to make 16 appearances, scoring six goals and giving one assist. However, the player found little room for further growth at Cruzeiro and moved to Athletico Paranaense in April last year.
With Paranaense, Roque has played 80 games, scoring 28 goals and giving 11 assists. The striker accumulated 21 goals and 7 assists in 2023 alone and still has two games left to play.
These stats make Roque one of the best talents to emerge from Brazil in the last five years, and betters even the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes when they were still playing in Brazil.
Between 2017 and 2018, Vinicius Junior made 69 appearances with Flamengo, scoring 14 goals and providing 4 assists. Roque has already scored 20 more goals than Vinicius.
Similarly, Rodrygo Goes played for Santos between 2017 and 2019, making 79 appearances. During this time, he scored 17 goals and gave 8 assists. Roque has double the number of goals scored than Rodrygo.
Thus, Barcelona fans have everything to hope that Vitor Roque will turn out to be one of the biggest stars in Europe. However, the club will have to be careful and patient with the player, not putting him under too much pressure early on to ensure his sustained growth and development in the coming years.
