It is rather interesting how FC Barcelona is planning to go about their concept for next season. Despite still not having made any signings this summer, the Catalan club still has some ideas about their plans for the future. That is because new Barcelona coach Hansi Flick seems to already have what he needs.

While it is still important for the club to prepare by ensuring new arrivals, namely a new winger and pivot for the team, it is equally crucial to make use of the assets already at the club. Fortunately, new Barcelona coach Hansi Flick plans to do just that.

To make up for the lack of adequate depth in certain positions, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick plans to use his more versatile players. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona already has some players that can be used for their multi-faceted versatility.

Andreas Christensen:

The Danish defender was one of the key reinventions for Xavi Hernandez last season, and his utility as a makeshift pivot is what helped Barcelona a lot at many crucial points. While Hansi Flick still may not have a pivot available, he has the option of using Andreas Christensen as one despite his natural position being that of a central defender.

Hector Fort:

Another defender who possesses a versatile skillset, Hector Fort has proven himself to be quite the capable fullback on either flank. Despite naturally being a right-back, he has shown himself to be capable of playing on the left flank as well with great efficiency.

Jules Kounde:

The French defender has proven himself to be a world-class option for Barcelona both as a center-back and also as a right-back. Even for his country at the European Championship, Kounde is currently impressing as a right-back. This exceptional versatility will likely help out Hansi Flick and Barcelona a lot next season.

Mikayil Faye:

Similar to Kounde, the young Senegalese defender has the ability to play effectively both as a central defender but also as a left-back. His left foot possesses a lot of quality and strength, and it makes him a solid option for Flick to want to retain at Barcelona.

While Gavi may currently be injured, he will be undeniably important for Hansi Flick once he returns. The young Barcelona midfielder possesses a versatile skillset and it allows him to essentially play in any role within the midfield and even as a false winger if needed. Moreover, his relentlessness and tenacity are something that suits Flick’s style of play quite well.

Ilkay Gundogan:

The German veteran has already experienced what it is like to play under Hansi Flick, and he will be looking forward to doing it again at Barcelona. Moreover, with Ilkay Gundogan’s
ability to play both as an offensive midfielder and also as a defensive one, he could be key for Flick when it comes to making tactical adjustments.

Frenkie De Jong:

Another versatile profile, the Dutchman can play anywhere within the midfield and can even go beyond that. Also having shown himself to be capable of playing as a central defender in emergencies, Frenkie De Jong possesses great technical quality but also an exceptional understanding of the game.

Ansu Fati:

The current ‘10’ of FC Barcelona will be able to give Hansi Flick some options in attack if he ends up staying at the Catalan club. His ability to play as both a winger but also as a center-forward will likely be of use to the German coach as well at some point.

The two Joaos:

It is not a guarantee at the moment that Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix will return to the club, but there exists a possibility that they just might. In case they do return to Barcelona, both Cancelo and Felix are extremely versatile players as well and can be used in a variety of positions as per the wishes of the coach.
