Two names join the list of vulnerable Barcelona players for UCL

The win over Napoli that FC Barcelona got in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 is a cause for much celebration at the Catalan club as getting to the quarter-finals was one of the main objectives for the side this season.

The fact that Barcelona achieved this victory without some of their key players like Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Alejandro Balde, and Ferran Torres makes this win even more special.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, the Blaugranes are in danger of missing some other important players in the coming Champions League matches, as there are up to seven players who run the risk of being suspended for the second leg of the quarter-finals if they receive a booking in the first leg.

In the 3-1 victory over Napoli, both Lamine Yamal and Andreas Christensen got bookings in the first half, which means they both have now two yellow cards to their names, and another yellow card will see them suspended for one game.

Other than these two players, Ronald Araujo, Joao Felix, and Sergi Roberto already had two yellow cards to their name coming into this match. Similarly, while Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres both missed the game due to injuries, they also have the same number of bookings in the Champions League.

The team that Barcelona will face in the quarter-finals is yet to be known, but whichever opponents they get, these players will have to be extra wary, especially in the two coming games. Getting another booking in either the first or the second leg will lead to a suspension in the ensuing game.

However, if these players can survive the quarter-final stage without another booking, they can go into the semi-finals with a clean slate, and be able to play with the concern of avoiding a yellow card at all costs.
