Xavi spoke about the overall performance of the team, Aleix Garrido’s debut, Ferran and Fati’s performances, Frenkie’s availability in El Classico, Roberto’s versatility, and playing Eric Garcia as a pivot in his post-match press conference after the 4-0 win against Elche.

Xavi on the win against Elche:

“A solid performance all around. We knew what we had to do and we did it. A great match. This is an important step forward for our goal, which is to win La Liga. I’m very happy for the players that don’t play a lot, and for the youngsters that played today.”

Xavi on player’s development:

“Watching videos is very important. It helps the players see and understand how they develop in in-game situations and how they need to control their body.”

Xavi on Aleix Garrido’s debut:

“Aleix Garrido was injured. That’s why he hadn’t made his first-team debut before. He has a Barca profile. He has a great last pass and is a superior player technically and I love him.”

Xavi on Ansu Fati’s performance:

“Ansu needed that goal. Forwards change their faces when they score, you can tell. He was very tired at the end because he worked very hard for the team in defense. The goal is the result of his hard work and individual talent.”

Xavi on Ferran Torres:

“Ferran always works hard. It’s an honor to coach him because he’s an honest and hardworking player. Ferran and Ansu made the difference. I’m very happy for them because they needed a bit of confidence. They will score more goals for sure.”

Xavi on having versatile players in the squad:

“It’s amazing to have so many versatile players. Sergi Roberto and Frenkie de Jong can play in several positions. Marcos Alonso is also excellent as a center-back.”

Xavi on Frenkie de Jong’s availability in El Classico:

“We’ll see if Frenkie can play next week. It depends on his sensations. I hope we do.”

Xavi on playing Eric Garcia as a Pivot:

“It was Jordi Cruyff’s idea to test out Eric García as a pivot. We had a friendly match with the B team and Eric did well as a pivot. He looked very relaxed today as well. I think that he played very well in a new position. We could have a great pivot and we’ll see in the future.”
