Xavi to recover two superstars from injury for Barcelona vs Bilbao

It seems that no matter how much FC Barcelona try to prevent it, misfortune still follows. Despite recruiting players ahead of time to avoid untimely alterations to the team, it still did not pan out how they had hoped.

Moreover, even with reinforcements, Barcelona are struggling to have their positions covered with quality. In fact, many of the first-team stars who were expected to be prominent this season have already been lost to injury.

Even recently, Danish defender Andreas Christensen ended up joining the list of injured stars. Before him, Joao Cancelo and Inigo Martinez were already sidelined due to previous injuries. However, it seems that Barcelona may be in for some great news.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 27-year-old Danish defender is not exactly injured. Thus far, the club has not even issued a proper medical statement in regards to a possible injury. As per MD, his exclusion from the recent Real Betis squad list was only done as a precaution.

This means that, beyond just this La Liga clash, the Dane should be back soon. In fact, MD believes that he will be at Xavi’s disposal for the subsequent clash against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa Del Ray. That match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, the 24th of January.

Moreover, as Alex Pintanel highlighted, Xavi has also given some positive news about Joao Cancelo. The Manchester City loanee is also expected to be back for the Bilbao clash up next. He seems to be recovering well and should be ready to return in time for the cup game.

This would mean that Xavi will have two of his most trusted defenders back for one of the most crucial games of the season. Barcelona are aware of what is at stake, and thus no mistakes can be made. The more stars that are available for selection, the better for Barça.

For now, however, Xavi must first focus on the upcoming Betis game. Many players of the team have been replaced by younger talents. However, even their inclusion brings along with it a unique set of worries for the Barcelona first team.
