Barcelona emerged as the 1-0 victors over the Portuguese giants FC Porto in their home stadium. An intense game for the players and a thrilling encounter for the neutrals, the three points taken from this game came as a fortunate blessing for Barcelona.

While a great deal of players struggled from a tactical and technical point of view, others stood out as well. One player in particular who could have contributed significantly to Barcelona in this game was Robert Lewandowski. However, arguably the worst fate of all befell the Polish striker during the game.

Injured even before half-time, the Polish ace went down on the ground initially clutching his ankle. After getting up, the 35-year-old continued to limp and was replaced by the incoming Ferran Torres not long after. Ultimately, it would be his replacement that would end up scoring the winner for Barca.

Conflicting reports

However, doubts remained over Robert Lewandowski and when he could now make his return. Some reports initially suggested him to be trying his best to return for the upcoming clash against Granada on Sunday.

On the other hand, according to the latest update by Toni Juanmarti, it appears that the reality of things may be a bit more dire.

As per the journalist, who credited Xavi Campos for the update, Lewandowski will not be a starter against Granada at all costs and for now, it is totally ruled out that he even makes the squad list for the La Liga clash.

Opportunity for Ferran

Receiving a strong blow to his ankle, the final expected return date of the Polish striker is still uncertain. However, given that he was being reported to make his return against Granada, it looks positive. After the Granada clash, the international break will take over and Lewandowski should be perfectly fit to return after it.

For now, the Polish ace remains the primary contributor of goals at Barcelona. With 6 goals and 4 assists already to his name for La Blaugrana, the 35-year-old remains integral for Xavi. His loss will come as a major blow, but Ferran Torres may now get an opportunity to start as the striker for Barca against Granada and showcase his own quality.
