Barcelona ace surpasses several club legends in one key aspect

FC Barcelona were able to gain very important three points in their last league game against Celta Vigo. Although the Catalans were able to win this game in its very last moments, there were still questions raised about the team’s performance.

However, one player who will not be too much concerned with the criticism faced by the team after this match would be Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker scored two goals in this match, both right before the ends of the two halves to give Barcelona the victory.

This brace took Lewandowski’s Barcelona goal tally for the season to 17, and added to the 33 goals that he scored last year, the Pole now has reached the 50-goal mark for the Catalan club.

Having scored these goals in 79 matches, the Pole’s scoring average comes up to 0.63 goals per game, and as Mundo Deportivo has noted, Lewandowski’s scoring rate is already higher than some of the most prominent names to have played for Barcelona.

For instance, Romario had a goal-scoring rate of 0.60, Rivaldo 0.55, Quini 0.52, Stoichkov 0.47, and Ronaldinho 0.45. Thus, Lewandowski is scoring goals at a better rate than these players and is almost at par with Samuel Eto’o, who scored 0.65 goals per game for FC Barcelona.

Other names like David Villa (0.40), Gary Lineker (0.37), and Thierry Henry (0.40), also had a scoring rate significantly lower than Lewandowski.

However, the Polish striker is still a significant way off from the Catalan club’s top-scorer, Lionel Messi, who scored 0.86 goals each game with Barcelona. Similarly, he is also below other names like Luis Suarez (0.70), Ronaldo (0.96), and Diego Armando Maradona (0.66).

Now, having reached the 50-goal mark with Barcelona, Lewandowski has another difficult task awaiting him, as he will be spearheading the team’s attack against Napoli.

Culers will be hoping Lewandowski can display the scoring form he showed against Celta Vigo in this match as well, to get the team straight into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
