With their already thin squad and payments from Libero Group not expected to be received soon, FC Barcelona are looking forward to the sales of some of their former players for them to generate some funds.
There are several players on whom the Catalans have a share of the fee received for any future transfer, including Ez Abde, Juan Miranda, Mika Marmol, and Jean Claire Todibo.
One of these players, Todibo, was recently reported to be nearing a move to the Premier League side Manchester United, while Tottenham Hotspurs were also interested in the player. However, Nice were willing to part with the player only for at least €60 million, which neither of these clubs were ready to pay.
As a result, his move in the winter market looked unlikely. But SPORT now reports that another Premier League side has now emerged as a realistic contender for the Frenchman’s signature, i.e., Chelsea. The London-based club is already negotiating for the defender’s incorporation in coming days, but there is no agreement for now.
The Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has received very favourable reports on the French defender and can push his club to get Todibo to bring a semblance of stability to his highly unstable defence.
His side has already conceded 31 goals in the Premier League, which have contributed to the club being in the 10th position after one half of the season. One of Pochettino’s most trusted defenders, Fofona, is also out for a long time with an injury, and his team desperately needs some reinforcements in defence.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are aware of this interest from Chelsea and are looking forward to the operation being completed within this transfer window. Having a 20% right on any transfer fee paid for him, the Catalans can get up to €12 million if the defender leaves Nice for €60 million.
