All journeys must reach an end at some point, and those at FC Barcelona are no different. La Blaugrana have always had to deal with goodbyes in different ways, and that tradition continues to this day. At the end of this season, there is no telling which Barcelona players end up staying either.

However, there do seem to be a few guarantees. One such guarantee is the departure of former Chelsea man Marcos Alonso, who arrived at FC Barcelona on a free transfer back in the summer of 2022, but with his contract expiring in the upcoming summer of 2024, there have been no moves made to renew him.

As per the words of Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti, the 33-year-old Spaniard is set to make his last appearance for FC Barcelona in front of the home fans at the Montjuic Stadium. There is no guarantee that he will end up playing, but the journalist believes it would make for a nice gesture to see the player get a deserved ovation.

The match being referred to is the game against Rayo Vallecano in a few hours. An integral game for Barça’s seasonal objectives right now, it is a must-win for the club. However, the coaches at Barcelona could possibly give the player an opportunity at a favorable point in the match if it were to develop accordingly.

Adding to this point, he compliments the player for his maturity and dedication to the club. Since his arrival, he has not been one to make too many problems for Barça and even made a great economic effort to join the club while patiently waiting for his registration and not forcing the club to take dire measures.

A veteran of the sport, he knew exactly how to conduct himself around his juniors and partners. For Barcelona, while Alonso may not have been the ideal player on the field, nor one who they could rely on too often, he definitely leaves an image of what an ideal person inside the locker room should be like at a club like FC Barcelona.

However, it is also true that he may not end up being the only departure. While Sergi Roberto is set to be renewed, others such as Ronald Araujo or perhaps Andreas Christensen are still being linked to a big move away from the club. The legitimacy of these rumors remains untested, but Barcelona may be up for a busy summer window ahead.
