As the season comes to an end, speculation about the moves that different clubs are going to make in the coming summer transfer window is increasing. Like other major clubs, FC Barcelona are also constantly in the news regarding transfers.

Xavi relied heavily on his watertight defense in his quest to win La Liga this season, and the club’s defensive line did not disappoint the head coach. The backline of Kounde, Araujo, Christensen, and Balde was all impressive this season, and will be looking to show this form again the next season.

However, maintaining this form is conditional on the players remaining at FC Barcelona for the next season. There have already been doubts about Kounde’s willingness to remain at the club, and another member of this backline is reportedly gaining the attention of other clubs.

This player is Andreas Christensen, who, according to SPORT, is generating interest from Italy. The player has been phenomenal in his first season at the club, and Xavi’s trust in him is complete.

The report claims that Christensen’s amazing form this season has caught the eye of major European clubs, and Inter Milan is one such club which hopes to bring the Danish center back to San Siro.

Inter are not the only Italian club interested in the defender, and there are other clubs monitoring the player as well. However, Barcelona are understandably not willing to let go of the defender, but an offer near the €70 million mark can convince the Catalan club to let go of the Dane. Still, Christensen is not one of the players that FC Barcelona would want to sacrifice at this stage.

Thus, while FC Barcelona would be looking to retain one of their highly effective defensive pieces next season, they can be forced into a sale if a good enough offer arrives, especially considering the club’s current financial situation.
