Although they were able to advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA EURO 2024, the quarter-final tie against Germany took a heavy toll on the Spanish national team. One of their key midfielder, the Barcelona youngster Pedri, was injured after a foul from Toni Kroos.
Similarly, Dani Carvajal was also shown a red card in the last minute of extra time which means he will miss the upcoming semi-final against France. But the injury suffered by Pedri would definitely be more of a concern for Barcelona, as the midfielder has been suffering from fitness-related issues for some time now.
This would be a big blow for the Spaniard himself, as he would have been looking forward to helping his team and getting his hands on his first international trophy.
But despite this setback, the midfielder is fully driven to remain with his team till the end of their participation in the competition. The midfielder made this clear as he took to social media to share a message after his injury, which has been reported by SPORT:
“I came to Germany for the Euros, and I will stay here until the end. Because the dream, no doubt, continues. This week, I will be cheering on and supporting this great family that is the National Team in another way.”
“Your support and that of everyone has been incredible. The hardest moment has passed, and the journey back to being fully fit for FC Barcelona has already begun.”
Furthermore, he also responded to Toni Kroos, after the German midfielder had apologized to him following the tackle which led to Pedri’s injury: “This is football, and these things happen. Your career and your achievements stay with you forever… Let’s go, Spain.”
It is good to see that the midfielder is not too heartbroken with his latest injury setback. Hopefully, he will be able to recover from this issue as soon as possible, and start a new chapter at Barcelona under Hansi Flick.
