A Serbian, Stefan Mitrovic, is among the emerging youngsters that Barcelona scouts are currently monitoring with significant interest. The Red Star Belgrade winger is a rising star in the Serbian league and has attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Barcelona.

Owing primarily to their weakened financial conditions over the last few seasons, and also because of the greater financial muscle of Premier League sides and clubs backed by wealthy individuals, FC Barcelona have shifted their transfer policy to aim at signing rising potential stars while they are still within reasonable values.

Thus, a number of youngsters have been bought by the club in recent seasons, with some joining the subsidiary for now. Stefan Mitrovic is expected to be another such target for La Blaugrana. The winger is still 20 years old but is among the most followed players in Serbian football.

Mitrovic plays mostly on the left wing and is known particularly for his ability to deliver effective crosses into the box with his right foot. He has also scored 5 times this season and has also displayed his quality in Europa League matches as well. As a result, a number of major European clubs, precisely 3, have shown their interest in the youngster, according to the Red Star sports director.

However, Mitrovic was unable to change clubs in the winter transfer window, as he had joined Red Star only at the start of the season. He will be eligible to move again at the end of the current season, and Barcelona will have to act swiftly in order to bring him to Camp Nou before another major side gets his signature on a contract.

As of now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have already contacted the youngster’s entourage, a fact also confirmed by the player’s father in his recent tweet.
